Acrylic and Charcoal on MDF Board, A2
I would like to expand on this painting as it is one of my favourite pieces.
It was a massively emotional , cathartic experience , in which I appreciated myself & finally feel beautiful.
The medium is acrylic paint which is my favourite. Acrylic paint is water-based fast drying paint used by artists since the 1960s. It can be adapted & modified to different levels of thickness by adding water.
The style I adopted was quick, chaotic brushstrokes to symbolise how I was feeling at the time. The paint dries quickly so it was important to keep moving with the flow, as with life.
I have never felt comfortable in front of the camera but the outcome of staring at myself for some time brought me to the realisation that I love myself.
It’s important in life to realise everything is a sum of parts and treasure can be found in the darkest places..
